In this post, we will see How to Fix Chrome & Edge Browser Tabs Dragging into New Windows (Easy Fix).
1. Adjust Windows Mouse Drag Sensitivity (The "Micro-Drag" Bug)
If your mouse sensor is highly sensitive, a simple single-click can be misread by Chromium as a physical downward dragging gesture, instantly detaching the tab.
i. Press the Windows Key + R, type regedit, and hit Enter.
ii. Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
iii. Look for the values DragHeight and DragWidth on the right side.
iv. The default value is usually 4. Double-click them and change the value to 20 or 30.
Note: This forces Windows to ignore micro-movements, meaning your mouse must travel 20 to 30 pixels before the browser initiates a "drag and drop" action.
2. Take Tab to the Original Window
i. Right Click on the Tab.
ii. Select "Move Tab To Another Window".
iii. Choose Original Window.
